Check the box on the right side of the screen labeled Attach this signature then select the new signature file you’ve just created. If you use a custom signature in HTML format - i.e. Click on the email account in the top left corner of the screen that is your active account. Then copy the source code in HTML from there. Then go to the WYSIWYG HTML editor of your choice (unless you enjoy typing in HTML yourself), or if you have no preference, you can use this one. After creating your email signature, click Save signature button under the signature preview. Once you have a file containing the signature you want, you’ll need to activate the signature file, and this is the step that’s a bit tricky: For the email signature, go to the hamburger menu button, then to Account Settings. Just remember that any graphics you include will have to be hosted somewhere on the Internet, and that they’ll force your recipients to access the ‘net every time they read your email. Or, if you have some experience with HTML, you can create this signature file directly. Confusingly, Mozilla states (incorrectly) that formatted signature files will only be visible to those who can view HTML files and recommend the use of an unformatted signature if possible.
A signature file may be formatted or unformatted. If the dates were different, then Thunderbird didnt report the email as having an invalid signature. When displaying an email that contains a digital signature, the emails date will be shown.
